The scheduled dates for now to 2009 are as follows:
Thursday 4th December - Wines from the Sunshine States - £25.00
Due to a cancellation we have a few spaces left on this exploration of wines from the New World, as well as the more sunny parts of old Europe.
Wednesday 10th December - A Feast of Fizz - £20.00
The regular Thursday tasting (see below) was so over-subscribed we have decided to add a preview tonight. A collection of our favourite sparkling wines and Champagnes that won’t break the bank.
Wednesday 10th December - A Feast of Fizz - £20.00
Sold out.
Wednesday 17th December - Christmas Wine Fair - £20.00 - 8pm Start
We are now taking bookings for a Wednesday preview tasting for those who couldn’t get tickets for Thursday. A round up of all the best wines to buy for the festive season. Please note the later start time.
Thursday 18 th December - Christmas Wine Fair - £20.00 - 8pm Start
Sold out.
Thursday 8th January - Cold Cuts and Come Downs - £10.00
Thanks to everyone who has offered some superb bottles for tasting at this New Year’s ‘bring-a-bottle’ get together. We are still taking ideas so do get in touch. We will also be opening some unusual discoveries from our own cellar, and the modest entrance charge will cover decent cheeses and nibbles. Oh, and once again, please no Jacob’s Creek!
Thursday January 15th - The Top Twelve Best Bargains - £16.00
Spent all your money on pressies for your nearest and dearest, but still want to enjoy a good quality wine? This tasting rounds up all our favourites, old faithfuls, bin-ends, and January sale steals, that will take the chill out of the winter blues.
Thursday January 22nd - From Barcelona to Biarritz - £22.00
What a fabulous journey this is! Instead of heading south of the famous Catalan capital we travel north to the rarely encountered region of Ampurdan - Costa Brava, hidden in the rocky inlets at the foot of the Pyrenees. The wines are a synthesis of Catalan, Mediterranean and Bordeaux varieties. Continuing into the Basque regions of south-west France we encounter all the hearty, individual, and robustly flavoured wines that capture the feel of the south with a touch of Atlantic cool. Expect wild boar salami and a range of local cheeses.
Thursday January 29th – The Alpine Ridge: Alsace, Austria and Alto-Adige - £22.50
This tasting unites three distinct regions that share such grape varieties as Pinot Noir, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Grigio. The combination of soils, climate and wine making traditions brings out striking differences between the wines, giving an insight into the unique personality of each vineyard.
Thursday February 5th – A Tasting of Mountain Cheeses and Wines - £26.50
IIt is the season of the Vacherin, and as such is cause for much celebration. Cows that have grazed on the Alpine upland over the summer return to the valley where their milk is transformed into the most unctuous, and delightful cheese. In fact all along the east of France cheeses of great quality and richness offer a superb pallette to show off some truly amazing wines from the Jura, Savoie, north Italy, and Burgundy. A gourmet soirée.

Thursday February 12th – The Art of Organic Wine - £20.00 - The striking advances in wine quality in recent years reflects a return to basics for many wine makers. Turning away from the systematic use of fertiliser and pesticide, many winemakers are now taking on the challenges of making wine without synthetic assistance. Summing up the different types of organics, this tasting rounds up wines from all over the world that demonstrate the exceptional quality that can be achieved by a hands-off approach.
Saturday 14th February - Valentine’s Fine Chocolate and Wine - £30.00 - 8.00 p.m start.
You don’t need to be in a relationship to fall in love with this winning combination of gorgeous wines and beautiful hand made chocolate.
